Infection is a leading concern for clinicians managing at-home enteral nutrition—especially for patients with percutaneous gastrostomy and jejunal feeding tubes.

As the Cleveland Clinic notes, “Infection or leakage of stomach contents at the tube insertion site,” is one of the major risks associated with enteral feeding.

Despite existing care standards, discharge practices vary across providers. When clinicians lack the tools to ensure safe, consistent care at home, patients may be exposed to unnecessary risk—and may face preventable complications.

Seeing a gap in overall care, we at LumaCleanCares developed three innovative products to enhance clinical outcomes for patients with feeding tubes. Keep reading to discover our specialized medical solutions—and how easily you can bring them into your facility today.

  1. StomaEase: There are no specific treatments to address the root cause of skin breakdown around feeding tubes. This is a big problem seeing as how leakage and granulomas can cause serious pain and even more serious infections—sometimes creating wounds severe enough to require surgical intervention.

We teamed up with Jasmine Sturr, a chemist with a feeding tube, to create a solution.

Today, StomaEase™ is a targeted solution for enteral G-tube and J-tube tube patients. It’s designed to help with skin irritations by ensuring the stoma site remains dry by absorbing leakage. Unlike other powders, the StomaEase™ powder holds two to three times its volume with stoma leakage and helps neutralize odors. It simplifies care while enhancing comfort, quality of life and protection.

StomaEase™ users often tell us that this solution is life changing. But don’t just take our word for it. See all of our customer testimonials here.

  1. StomaDisc: To make StomaEase™ even more effective, LumaClean designed a special silicone disc to hold the powder in place. It works by forming a retention wall inside the StomaDisc™ as the powder absorbs the fluids and expands into a hydrogel to keep it contained.

Bonus: StomaDisc™ has been shown to reduce the need for gauze and tape, and can even provide greater stability with narrow band types of low-profile G-Tubes and J-Tubes.

StomaEase™ and StomaDisc™ work together  as a system to make at-home care simpler and more comfortable—giving patients the confidence to manage leakage with ease.

  1. EnClean® Brush: The internationally recognized ENFit® Connector was developed to address a serious safety issue: preventing misconnections between enteral and intravenous (IV) lines—errors that can have fatal consequences.

While the ENFit® design enhances patient safety, it presents a cleaning challenge. Residual formula can collect in the connector hub, creating an environment where bacteria can grow. That’s why organizations like ASPEN and GEDSA recommend routine hub cleaning as part of enteral care protocols.

Enter the EnClean® Brush cleaning tool, which helps comply with vigorous cleaning protocols. This is essential for maintaining the hygiene of ENFit® connectors. Specifically engineered with a 4 brush-head for robust and quick cleaning of all interior surfaces of the connector, the brush also occludes the feeding lumen during cleaning to prevent debris from entering the feeding tube and, ultimately, the patient’s digestive system. The bristles are germ-resistant via silver embedded nylon and lasts 30-Days.
